Ajay Rana, PhD, is co-leader of the University of Illinois Cancer Center Translational Oncology Research Program and Endowed Professor and Director of Research in the Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Chicago. His research is focused on cancer biology, with specific training and expertise in signal transduction and anti-neoplastic drugs resistance. He has worked on a novel family of kinases, called Mixed Lineage Kinases (MLKs), which are unique in the sense that the kinase domain contains the signature sequences for both, Ser/Thr and Tyr kinases.
